I am Liz who is behind Farm On A Card. I have always had a passion for animals and all things farming. I studied Agriculture after leaving school and then went on to work within the outdoor pig industry. I would always carry my camera with me either on the tractor or the quad bike.
After the birth of our two boys (Tom & Archie) we would also take them to farm parks even through they were brought up on a farm! It was a excuse for me to hopefully take some more pictures of different breeds of animals while they were pedaling on the tractors! Also we would go to local ploughing matches and rural events. My camera was always by my side.
My husband Phil and I applied for a Farm Business Tenancy in 2014 for the Leconfield Estates in Petworth and we were successful to our surprise. Its a 300 acre mixed farm with arable and sheep, included in this is a 100 acres of water meadow. We have 200 breeding ewes which are Texel and Suffolk cross, I also have a small flock of Greyface Dartmoor Ewes, Herdwicks and Hampshire Downs. We also have free range chickens, a Poultry busniess called Susses Garden Poultry ducks and finish free range Christmas Turkeys ocasionally. The arable side is made up of Wheat and Spring Barley at the moment but this varies year on year with the rotation.
We also have two mad dogs, Dave the Collie and Dudley the small resuce scruff ball (anyone have any ideas of his breed let us know) both feature on my cards.
